What you receive (certificates and access)

During the course, you will receive all the coursework required. Assessments and practical training throughout the course. Certificates for completion (certificate will state duration 1-3 years).

Access to Learn Pro Community and access to 30+ modules and attached certificates. Add a link to Community Learn Pro (a separate area for external candidates)

Depending on the course you attend, drinks, snacks, and lunch will be provided.

Information that is required prior to the training day will be shared.

First Aid – (6 hours)

On completing your course, you will understand the first aider’s role, including:

  • Preventing cross infection, recording incidents and actions and use of available equipment.
  • You will be able to assess situations and circumstances to provide first aid in a range of emergencies, including:
  • An unconscious adult casualty (including seizure).
  • Administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to an adult, including using an AED.
  • An adult casualty who is choking.
  • An adult casualty who is wounded and bleeding.
  • Adult casualty who is suffering from shock.
  • Minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, and small splinters).

Manual Handling – (3 hours)

The course covers various aspects related to Manual Handling including:

Why do you need Manual Handling training?

  • Understanding what safe Manual Handling is. Identifying the impact of poor Manual
  • Handling, including common injuries, such as Impact to the employer and Impact to the individual.

Understanding your back:

  • Understanding the basic structure and functions of the spine.
  • Recognising how poor Manual Handling technique can result in back pain.

Safe Manual Handling:

  • Understanding how to assess the risk of moving a load.
  • Understanding how to safely move a load as an individual or as part of a team.

Basic Life Support - (2-3 hours)

Objectives for candidates

  • How to assess a collapsed victim
  • How to perform CPR (chest compression and rescue breathing)
  • The use of community AED (Automated External Defibrillators)
  • How to place your patient in the recovery position
  • Learn about choking (simple steps to prevent it)
